If I came to know Laylat al-Qadr

بسم الله والحمد لله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله

The mother of the Believers, A’ishah رضّى الله عنها narrated, “I asked:

يا رسول الله أرأيت إن علمت أي ليلة ليلة القدر ما أقول

‘O Messenger of Allaah, if I came to know the night was Laylat al-Qadr, what should I say?’ The Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم replied: ‘Say therein:

أَللّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ كَرِيْمٌ تُحِبُّ العَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنّيْ

“Allaahumma Innaka ‘Afuwwun Kareemun Tuhibbul ‘afwa fa’fu ‘anni

“O Allah, verily You are Most (generous in) Forgiving, You love to forgive, so forgive me.”   [At-Tirmidhi, 3513 and others – graded as saheeh]

– From amongst the ibadaat of reading the Qur’an, performing Nawafilah and making abundant Dhikr etc, special attention should be given to the excessive recitation of this du’a during the last ten nights (and days) of Ramadan.

And tawfeeq is from Allaah alone
